Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Residency

Vision therapy residency programs are designed to provide advanced training to optometrist graduates in vision therapy and the issues that require its use. There is a huge list of eye related problems that can develop and pertain to different parts of the body, like the brain which is related to dyslexia, or sensory processing disorders related to neuro-optometry. Residents can expect hands on training and education through various settings on different vision disorders and techniques for therapy and rehabilitation, and will deal with patients of all ages. Applicants considering this type of residency should understand the focus of the training is to help patients, no matter how hard or difficult, with correcting their vision problems which can result in talking to family members and other professionals to come up with an effective management plan. Residents will come out with advanced knowledge and training on vision therapy techniques, which is a skill that can be used in many career settings.
