Refractive and Ocular Surgery Residency
A refractive and ocular surgery residency incorporates the majority of training offered on an ocular disease residency, but generally provides more focus on the surgical side with before and after patient care. The residents are also exposed to selection, consultation, and co-management for patients interested in refractive surgery, cataracts, and other conditions that require surgery. Residents will diagnose and manage patients with various ocular diseases like glaucoma and retinal problems. All this training also involves advanced training in equipment for diagnosis, surgery, post-care, and plenty of state of the art equipment and processes like corneal topography and Wavefront technology. This residency provides more focus on the surgical setting, co-management of patients with ocular disease or those who desire refractive surgery, and post operation care, which is perfect experience for optometrists looking for job opportunities in these environments.
