Residency Description:
This one year residency at the Marion, IL VAMC will provide extensive clinical experience in primary care with treatment and management of ocular disease as well as low vision rehabilitation. The resident will assist with direct patient care and the teaching of student interns. Other responsibilities include attending and/or lecturing at seminars.
The mission of the optometry residency program at the Marion VAMC is to provide optometric graduates with extensive clinical training and experience in a multidisciplinary heal care setting. Residents will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive eye care to patients with multiple medical problems and to utilize specialty services provided within the hospital. This residency will encourage critical thinking and will give the resident the opportunity to understand ocular disease in greater depth while practicing in a hospital-based setting.
