Residency Description:
The Department of Ophthalmology offers 5 positions annually for our 3-year, ACGME-accredited residency program. Our residents utilize the latest technology and train from a highly skilled clinical staff at Henry Ford Hospital, a nationally renowned specialty care, teaching and research institution.
Henry Ford Hospital serves as the flagship academic hospital for Henry Ford Health System, one of the largest and most respected integrated health care delivery systems in the country. As a result, the hospital serves the entire metropolitan Detroit region and our residents benefit from a superb learning environment; residents are exposed to a large number of patients from varied backgrounds as well as to a wide spectrum of ophthalmic pathology. The ophthalmology training program far exceeds the requirements of the American Board of Ophthalmology and stresses sound clinical skills and continuity of care along with rotations through the sub-specialty areas. Our residents build up their own practices and follow a large number of patients throughout the three year training period; this provides them an extraordinary opportunity to develop a full range of clinical skills while managing their own patients with guidance and help available at all times.
