Residency Description:

The Ophthalmology Residency at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak provides the resident physician with a broad-based educational experience required for practice as a comprehensive general ophthalmologist or as the basis from which to pursue future fellowship training.

The Department of Ophthalmology provides a well-coordinated, progressive, balanced experience for the resident physician over a 36 month period during which he or she will make the transition from student to practitioner as a physician/surgeon. The experience will include clinical teaching primarily in the Beaumont Eye Institute (a continuity of care setting), inpatient and emergency patient care, surgical and microsurgical curriculum, basic and clinical science lectures, and professional, ethics and practice management training.
