Fellowship Description:

LSU offers a two-year, AUPO-compliant Clinical Retina Fellowship that is heavily weighted toward surgical retina. The fellows operate the only retina service in the LSU system, so there is a high patient load. The fellowship is half based in New Orleans and half in Baton Rouge; fellows alternate rotations. The Fellowship philosophy is that the fellow is here to learn to do the procedures not watch attendings do it. Fellows are introduced to all aspects of the posterior segment of the eye to enhance their skills in examination, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures. The Retina Service offers complete vitreoretinal capabilities with digital imaging, ICG angiography, OCT, ultrasound, and PDT. In addition, fellows may become involved in the many research projects conducted by the clinical and laboratory science faculty.
