Kresge Eye Institute Retina-Vitreous Fellowship
Coordinator:
Fellowship Description: The Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program has become one of the most challenging and competitive fellowships in the nation. During this 24-month training program, fellows obtain extensive instruction and experience in diagnosis and management of a wide-range of vitreoretinal disease. In weekly clinics, fellows see patients with macular and retinal vascular disease, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy and inherited vitreoretinal disorders. They examine and diagnose patients prior to presenting them to the faculty. Fellows learn to interpret fluorescein angiograms and are instructed in echography and electrophysiology as related to retinal disease. They also participate in a bimonthly fluorescein angiography conference, and prepare and present cases to be discussed. The retina fellows observe and perform laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy, age- related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. |
