Fellowship Description:

A one-year glaucoma fellowship is offered each year to highly qualified individuals who will have completed residency training in a program certified by the appropriate accreditation bodies in the United States or Canada. The fellow will supplement his/her education by organizing our biweekly journal club, by presenting cases at Grand Rounds bimonthly, and by supervising some of our resident surgeries. Techniques to be mastered include: laser procedures, glaucoma filtering surgery, rational use of wound-modulation agents, releasable suture closure techniques, trabeculectomy combined with cataract extraction, tube-shunt implants, management of the failing bleb, exposure to goniotomy, trabeculotomy and endocyclophotocoagulation. In addition, the fellow will learn to perform and interpret a variety of clinical tests including visual fields, optic disc analysis, ocular coherence tomography, optic disc image analysis, and ultrasound biomicroscopy. While the goal of our fellowship is to train outstanding clinical glaucoma subspecialists, there are numerous research opportunities available with both our clinicians and basic scientists.
