Fellowship Description:

The two-year fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery at Casey Eye Institute is sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This highly competitive program was founded in 1987 by John L. Wobig, M.D., J.D. Its first graduate was Roger A. Dailey, M.D., the current program director. Prior to 1987, Dr. Wobig and Lester Jones, M.D., hosted numerous national and international guest surgeons who came to learn their innovative tear duct, eyelid and facial procedures.

The fellowship begins July 5 in each odd-numbered year. Fellows participate in resident and medical student training and interaction with other subspecialties such as dermatologic surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, pathology and general plastic surgery. There is protected time for research as well as clinic and surgery time at the Portland VA Medical Center. Research funding is available through the Lester T. Jones Endowment Fund. The salary and benefits are commensurate with those of other fellows at the Casey Eye Institute.
