Approximately four days of the week are spent in these activities, with one or two days in the operating room. The fellow also participates in the screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity at the NICU at the Jackson Memorial Hospital approximately two hours a week and is in charge of a fellow ophthalmology clinic one-half day a week. Once a month the fellow observes exams under anesthesia of young children with retinoblastoma. The fellow's responsibilities include lecturing to medical students on the topic of amblyopia and binocular vision approximately four times a year.
